Do I Need a Driving Licence to Take Lessons?

All pupils must be in possession of a current provisional (or foreign) driving licence on commencement of driving lessons.

How Much Is a Driving Lesson?

We offer one of the cheapest driving lessons in the area - our prices can be as low as £20.00 per hour if you block book some of your lessons (see prices for full details)

How Do I Pay For My Driving Lessons?

BMC Driving Tuition accepts payment by either cash or cheque. Cheques should be made payable to Billy McCutcheon and should be presented prior to the start of each lesson.

What is Pass Plus Driving Tuition?

Pass Plus is an established training course aimed at new drivers. It was designed by the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) with the help of insurers and the driving instruction industry.

Pass Plus builds on your skills and knowledge. It will teach you how to anticipate, plan for and deal with all kinds of hazards, to help you become a more confident driver. (see Pass Plus Driving Lessons for more information)

Who Can Take the Pass Plus Driving Course?

You can take a Pass Plus course at any time, but it's mainly aimed at new drivers in the first year after passing their test.

What are the Benefits of Pass Plus Driving Course?

In short, you will become a safer driver and your insurance premiums may be lower, especially if you are a young driver. In effect you can save more than the cost of the course by gaining a Pass Plus certificate, PLUS drivers in South Lanarkshire may be able to claim up to £75.00 off the course by contacting South Lanarkshire Council (read more)

What Exactly is the Examiner Looking for on a Driving Test?

Quite simply, a safe drive. This means being fully aware of what's happening around you, and showing that you can sensibly respond to situations with courtesy and consideration.

How Can I Stay Calm After I've Made a Mistake on my Driving Test?

You don't have to be perfect to pass. If you make a mistake, keep it behind you and concentrate on what's happening ahead.

How Many Mistakes Can I Make During My Driving Test?

Try to make as few mistakes as possible. While a single mistake that is serious or dangerous can result in a fail, errors considered not to have involved potential danger are recorded as ’driving faults'. It takes 15 of these accumulated throughout the test to take your pass away from you. .

Will I Fail My Driving Test if I do my Three-Point Turn in More than Three Turns?

Not necessarily. The number of turns depends on the length of your car and the width of the road, however, you must complete this within 5 turns.

Will I Fail my Driving Test if I Hesitate Too Much??

You need to show confidence, together with making sound judgments. Overcautious driving where you wait too long when it's safe to go is likely to inconvenience and irritate any following traffic.

Before Passing Parked Cars on my Driving Test, Must I Always Signal?

No, it's not always necessary to signal. If you use your mirrors early enough you probably won't need to signal on most occasions.

Will I have to Reverse my Car into a Parking Bay on my Driving Test?

If there's a car park at your Driving Test Centre, there's a firm possibility that the examiner will ask you to do this exercise either at the beginning or the end of the test.

What Happens if I Fail?

If sadly, you fail, you'll be given a printed explanation of all aspects of driving shown on the Driving Test report. The examiner will also spend a few moments explaining why you failed.
